Bottle Kiln design have carried out two projects for me. The first was the transformation of my garden, the second creating a beautiful studio from an old derelict building.

There are a number of things impressive about BKD:

Absolute delight to work with the Bottle Kiln team. Meticulous design and detailed accurate costings incorporating my own specific ideas, but with fantastic added vision and expertise. Bottle Kiln designed a beautiful front garden for me which fitted exactly into the difficult space available. The project was started on time and completed within the time frame. The work was carried out extremely professionally and thoughtfully, with much attention to detail. Every day I admire my garden because I am so pleased with the result. Second time we have used Bottle Kiln Design. I was once again impressed and do not hesitate to recommend. From initial contact to completion, attention to detail in every aspect of the job. An example of this being how the extension of the paving blends seamlessly with our existing paving, using reclaimed stone and careful planning of the new stone placement. We had the front garden transformed from gravel covered hard standing to an area laid to lawn and large flower beds, incorporating a drive and turning area. This was all perfectly designed following my vague arm waving and description of what I was hoping for, and I’m so pleased with it. Thank you all!

I couldn’t be more delighted with the extensive garden work carried out by the Bottle Kiln Design Team. So many friends, family and neighbours have complimented us on the finished garden. The initial design stage was both transparent and creative while the final project implemented over two months, was carried out in a timely and entirely professional manner. I have absolutely no hesitation in unreservedly recommending Bottle Kiln Design.

We live in a town house with a small garden at the rear. The garden is challenging as it slopes steeply uphill away from the house towards a wall at the far end. Furthermore, it was tired and dated as no serious work had been carried out since the house was built in the 1970’s. It needed a new energy and vision.

For some years we had wanted to upgrade and improve the garden. After some initial thoughts, we realised that we needed help, both with thinking through some options and with carrying out the work involved. To this end we asked a number of garden and landscaping companies to come and look at our garden and come up with some design options. Most came to look and said they were busy but would get back to us soon. None did so until we asked ‘Bottle Kiln Design’ (BKD) to help.

They came and looked at the site. We talked through our initial thoughts and they immediately engaged with the project. They went away with our ideas and then came back with some suggestions and options. They were able to see what was possible and – importantly – what these options were likely to cost. Over the next few weeks BKD helped to develop a vision and a design for our garden and a plan was agreed together with a budget to do the work.

Now that the construction and landscaping is compete and the initial planting has bedded in, we have been enjoying our new garden very much. It has matched and even exceeded our expectations. A great place in which to relax and forget the impositions of ‘Lock-Down’.

It would be naïve to expect works of this magnitude to go without some hitches and indeed there were some unforeseen issues which caused a bit of stress at the time resulting in both the timescales and budget being stretched beyond initial expectations. However, we have ended up with a fantastic garden – thanks to BKD.

Our garden has been transformed from an overgrown mess, to a neat and tidy haven!

Bottle Kiln Design are a really professional company, and this is what makes them stand out. They also maintained great communication throughout, with the project manager often popping round in person to discuss or clarify things.

In particular:

• The team are happy to provide lots of ideas, but they also listen and make sure that you get what you want from your design, adapting as needed
• The company owner was very hands-on, appearing at 7.30am on the first day, shovel in hand!
• All the team – from those doing the building work, to the people doing the planting – are punctual, polite and work a full day. We’d often find them still working even as the November light was fading
• They go above and beyond to make sure you are happy with their work, and nothing is ever too much trouble

As they’re so busy, Bottle Kiln could sometimes be a little slow to reply to emails in the enquiry/pre-work stages. But, once they start work on your project, you have their undivided attention. Someone is always available to discuss your project with you.
