What We Did
Project Overview
To revitalise a neglected garden space constrained by a preservation order on an oak tree, we employed stone gabion baskets and Breedon gravel paving, effectively transforming the area into a functional and attractive outdoor setting.
This raised area of garden was an overgrown space without any purpose but contains a large oak tree which has a preservation order growing one one side which meant that no foundations could be dug and the ground levels had to be largely retained.
Our solution was to use stone gabion baskets to terrace the area and form bench seating with permeable Breedon gravel paved areas on the raised area with steps and a lower paved area to the side of the house as a linking space.
The gabion baskets are particularly effective against the boundary to separate the garden from the adjacent field, and the new planting has established quickly in the newly formed beds.
