Our customer, a keen gardener, had downsized to a bungalow with nothing but tarmac in the front of the house. We designed a series of raised beds cut into the existing tarmac to act as alpine and shrub beds. The beds were built out of a reclaimed Derbyshire stone to fit in with a village where a mixture of brick and stone is common in the older properties. The planting has been done by the customer, who loves all the colour that this has brought to the front of the house. We also built a matching step and landing area to the front door.
